As professional students, we need to have the abilities necessary to
support ourselves in the future. Professional refers to being skilled and ready
to offer our expertise. The Indian Skill Report 2024 states that each aspirant
student had to possess the following eight competencies. Examine where we are
and ourselves. Do we have the skills necessary to meet Industry4.0requirements
Computational talent is the second most crucial ability that students lack; in
my experience, 60–70% of students lack strong computational skills. Most
notably, a large number of students lack the fundamental computer skills
necessary to operate Microsoft Office competently and professionally.
Missing Basic Skill
The unfortunate truth is that a large number of students lack laptops
and PCs. Nowadays, a lot of higher education institutions lack enough computers
or just have outdated models that are unable to meet the demands of students
and prepare them for situations they may encounter in the real world. Basic
programs are too difficult for even master's and research students to manage in
their everyday coursework. They certainly know how to use the various apps on
their phones, but not Microsoft Office.
AI is a Paradigm Shift
AI and technological innovation are currently causing a paradigm change,
yet students are finding it difficult to understand the fundamentals of
computers. The joke is that students can't make a PowerPoint presentation.
Despite owning more expensive smartphones, they have no interest in buying
laptops or PCs, which is the most crucial skill to develop to improve
employability. Machine learning, chatGPT, data analytics, drug discovery,
computational chemistry, robotics, biotechnological advancements, gene therapy,
personalized medicine, diagnostics, atomization, etc. need computational
skills in this era of artificial intelligence.
Employers today want specialized skills due to expansion, competitiveness, and
demand. Particularly in the pharmaceutical industries, automation has altered
work patterns as a result of decreasing traditional prospects and the rise of
artificial intelligence and other new technologies. If things don't get better,
the future is dark.
Indian Skill Report 2024
According to the World Economic Forum, by 2025, 85 million occupations
will be automated, but as AI develops, 97 million new employment will also be
created. Historically, technical breakthroughs have produced more jobs than
they have removed. At this moment, India is poised to accelerate the use of AI
in public service, education, and industry.
The workplace, the workforce, and the nature of work itself are fast changing
due to Industry 4.0, necessitating constant learning and adaptation. India
wants to grow its economy to $10 trillion by 2030, thus the next generation of
workers must be trained for Industry 4.0.
National competitiveness will be fuelled by education and skill development as
we move into an era of digitally driven knowledge-based economies. Therefore,
to promote economic growth and employability, it is essential to give skilling,
upskilling, and reskilling top priority.

Companies must decide whether to invest in reskilling their current
personnel or hire new talent with AI expertise as AI transforms the Pharma
industry. The problem is made worse by startling data that shows a significant
scarcity of AI-versed workers in the pharmaceutical industry, with a current
supply-demand imbalance of almost 60%.
Opportunities of New Era
AI in Healthcare
Imagine a medical image-scanning future where AI-powered computers
identify cancer cells more accurately than human doctors. Imagine chatbots
powered by AI that are available 24/7 to assist patients and allay their
worries. In India's healthcare industry, artificial intelligence (AI) is not
merely a useful tool; rather, it is a lifesaver. Large sums of money are being
invested by pharmaceutical corporations in the creation of AI-based products
and technological innovation.

According to a Deloitte report, 67% of life sciences companies have made
major investments in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning,
demonstrating the industry's dedication to adopting new technologies.
The Hong Kong-based biotech In-silico Medicine dosed the first
patients in a phase 2 clinical trial for the “first entirely AI-discovered and
AI-designed” drug.

automate the regular tasks of documentation, diagnostics, Robotics, Blockchain
technology, Computational chemistry, Computational biology, drug
discovery processes, big data, and predictive analytics to identify new drug
targets and streamline clinical trials, cell and gene therapies is rising.
Opportunities in Digital Health:
The growth of technology and the AI base require knowledge or trained workers, which make up about 60% of the entire workforce needed. Skilling, reskilling, and upskilling
Skilling
All stakeholders get involved and welcome the idea of upskilling,
reskilling, and skillng.
Newly enrolled or currently completing graduate, post-graduate, or research
students need to be aware of the following aspects
1. Many
scientific and technological developments taking place on a national and
international scale.
2. To live in the present while accepting technological advancements from
the perspective of interested jobs.
3. Enrol in free or paid online and offline training programs and internships
to learn about various technology-related issues in your field of interest,
such as artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, data analytics, drug
discovery, blockchain management, personalized medicine, 3D printing technology,
and biotechnological advancement.
4. Utilize central and state programs to promote skill development, reskilling,
and upskilling by checking, finding, understanding, and implementing
5. To adopt the eight most important skills (Indian
Skill Report 2024) such as English language skills, Numerical aptitude, Computing
skills, Critical thinking, Learning ability

Reskilling
It's time for those in employment to retrain. The practice of training an
employee new skills to rise into a more senior role or increase their
proficiency in their existing work is known as reskilling. It is not to be
confused with retraining, which is the process of teaching a former skill to an
employee who does not currently know it or has not used it in a while.
Enhancing one's abilities.
Upskilling:
It is a
workplace trend that minimizes skill gaps and expands employee competencies
through training programs and growth opportunities. Upskilling is the process
of giving current employees better skill sets so they may grow in their
positions and take on new responsibilities within the organization.
Change
is unavoidable, and those who are unable to change their attitudes cannot
change anything. If you want to be a compatible professional, meet the
requirements of Industry 4.0. Take a single step towards learning about various
